Low back pain

Chances are , if someone is in the room with you, one of you has suffered with low back pain. That’s right over 50 percent of the population  experience this type of low back pain. Let me explain. The most complicated of biomechanical situations exists in the low back. Firstly it is where the body splits from the central torso, or thorax into two distinct separate but equal parts, hips and legs. This makes a proportional balance very important. Any excessive shift one way or the other creates a problem, and maintaining the correct balance during activities like work or sports is not always easy. To complicate matters, the effect of gravity combines all the force of all the body mass above the low back down to where the spine rests on the pelvis. This creates a problem waiting to happen. Every time we are standing or seated the pressure bears down to the bottom of the back. With time and age, the degenerative process slowly wears away the tissue, like erosion, which creates the thinning of discs and with wear and tear of the supportive structures it further weakens the integrity of the region. Any additional weight or loss of muscle tone can add to the forces at work that lead to problems. This is also the area where an ounce of prevention can produce a pound of cure. Keeping the tissues healthy and supple through regular check-ups and adjustments can give you the chance to be the one of the 50 percent on the healthy side of the equation.

The “timeliness” of your visit is a very important part in the prevention, you will feel much better if you come in regularly for your chiropractic checkup!
